The Canada Research Chair on Water Quality Modelling held by Peter Vanrolleghem was renewed for another 7 years, expressing the Canadian government's appreciation of the work accomplished by modelEAU since 2006 and the interest in the four methodological research objectives pursued by the new research program:

* Establish good modelling practice (GMP) by providing efficient modelling procedures;
* Maximize data quality for modelling and control, including experiment design;
* Optimize water systems by implementing instrumentation, control and automation;
* Devise risk analysis methods (ecosystem exposure to chemicals of emerging concern)
