Thomas Bouichet, coming to us from INSA Toulouse (we have some good ambassadors there as we get increasing requests to join us for a training period at modelEAU), is working on re-establishing the automatic titration method developed by Lieven Van Vooren and Marijke Vande Steene at BIOMATH in the late 90s. This method allows us to analyze for any acid/base buffer system with a precision close to the Standard Methods, but at lower cost and in a multi-parameter analysis. Thomas focuses on the quantification of volatile fatty acids and bicarbonate, relevant for the primEAU project where we study the way primary clarifiers affect water quality.
