Peter A. Vanrolleghem, professor at Université Laval and head of the CentrEau Water Research Center in Quebec, Canada, will be a Lund University's honorary doctor in 2020. Lund University is a prestigious university in Sweden and one of northern Europe’s oldest universities (1666). Lund University is consistently ranked among the world's top 100 universities. 

Peter A. Vanrolleghem studies water systems of a variety of types, including urban wastewater systems, and their effects on lakes and streams, transport and recycling of nutrients, micro-pollutants and greenhouse gas production from wastewater treatment plants - mainly through his expertise in the areas of modelling, control and simulation. This is also a strong branch of research at LTH.

"Vanrolleghem has been a regular mentor, inspirer and advisor at LTH for 20 years, and has spent about 18 months with us unpaid for different periods," says Ulf Jeppsson, associate professor at the Department of Industrial Electrical Engineering and Automation (IEA).

Among other things, he has participated in several research projects, supervised doctoral students and post-docs, and produced a number of scientific papers together with several Lund researchers.

Vanrolleghem is an internationally recognized name in water research circles and is a fellow among several international water organizations, such as IWA and WEF.
