Frédéric Cloutier obtained a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering at Université Laval (2006) and completed a master’s degree in civil engineering with Peter Vanrolleghem. In July 2010, he started as a research assistant for the Canada Research Chair in Water Quality Modelling located at Université Laval in Quebec, Canada.

Frédéric’s work included experimental design, statistical analysis and WWTP modeling for a Canadian Water Network project which aimed at determining the efficacy of emerging contaminant removal within existing treatment trains relevant to Canadian conditions through chemical and toxicological assessments. It was a nation-wide multi-disciplinary project that will further develop the database on removal of emerging contaminants in the most common Canadian wastewater treatment processes over a range of climatic and seasonal conditions.
