Lieselot obtained her bachelor’s degree in Bioscience Engineering at the University of Antwerp. In 2020, she started the master Bioscience Engineering: Chemistry and Bioprocess Technology at the University of Ghent (Belgium). She will collaborate with the University Laval and the research group modelEAU to complete her master's dissertation.

The topic of the dissertation will highlight the importance of detailed mechanistic sewer modeling in the fight against COVID-19. The validity of such a monitoring system will be defined by assessing the effects of sewer processes on the viral signal. Her supervisors are Prof. Peter Vanrolleghem and Prof. Elena Torfs (Ghent University). Thomas Maere will be her tutor for the duration of the master thesis project.
