When she came to modelEAU, Aurore was a French student in second year of DUT (Technological university degree) in chemical and process engineering at the IUT of Aix Marseilles 3 in France. She came to Université Laval for a 10 weeks internship in order to validate her diploma.
She was working on the primEAU project, which does the study of wastewater primary sedimentation through a pilot primary settler. The pilot receives the water coming upstream from the primary settlers of the eastern treatment plant of Québec City in order to test the settler under real conditions.
Her goal was to set up and validate a protocol to extract lipids from solid particles in the wastewater. The method used was the Soxhlet method.
