Thibaud Maruejouls has a master's degree in civil engineering from the Université d’Artois; field of studies: soil and water contamination. After a first professional experience as environmental engineer on soil contamination issues, he joined the department of civil engineering and water engineering at the Université Laval in 2009 (Québec, Canada). There, he started a PhD on wastewater engineering area with Prof. Paul Lessard as advisor and Prof. Peter Vanrolleghem as co-advisor. He’s interesting about combined sewer overflows, water quality characterisation and modeling and, integrated modeling of urban wastewater systems.

14 stormwater tanks in combined-sewer have been built in Quebec city in order to reduce wastewater releases in St. Lawrence and St. Charles rivers. The aim of the project retEAU was to improve the knowledge about the impacts of these stormwater tanks on treatment plant efficiency and on the environment, in order to optimize the design process. Research on pollutants behavior in stormwater tanks by the implementation of series of measurements constitutes the first step of PhD. The second step consists in building a numerical model to simulate and predict the removal of pollutants by the tank for an integrated management of river releases.
