Janelcy Alferes obtained her PhD in Industrial Engineering  from University of Navarra (CEIT research centre) in 2011. She then started a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Canada Research Chair in Water Quality Modelling at Université Laval in Quebec, Canada.

She worked on the project titled "Automatic monitoring stations and robust fault-tolerant control". She also collaborated in the framework of the Design and Operations Uncertainty Task Group.
