Charles was doing his bachelor'S degree in Water Engineering at Université Laval.


He worked on the respirEAU project, more precisely on the hybrid respirometer prototype. It’s a device able to measure microorganisms’ respiration rate much more efficiently than the current respirometer device used, and with less error. Furthermore, it can self detect if there’s a problem with its oxygen sensors which is a great improvement than the current device. There has been some work done on it, but there was more to be done until the device can be used confidently. Also, a part of the job was to compare the two devices
