Jialu participated in the dual degree program between Shanghai University (SHU) and University of technology of Compiegne (UTC). He obtained an engineering degree and a bachelor degree in bio-engineering. He also completed a master degree specialized in biotechnology at UTC. His PhD started in November, 2016.

His PhD project focus on simulating the performance of the Seine Aval wastewater treatment plant (SIAAP, Paris) after its update program and optimizing the strategy of treatment by using the models of wastewater treatment system.
