Atefeh obtained her bachelor's degree in electrical/control engineering in 2008 from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, in Iran.

She did a master in the modelEAU team. Her project was monEAU: monitoring station for quality water. She worked on development of algorithms to detect and diagnose faults in automated monitoring stations for water quality control.
