If you want to know more about real-life application of modelling and control of integrated urban wastewater systems, you are lucky: The final version of Julia Ledergerber’s Ph.D. thesis is now available for download from modelEAU's website.

The work mainly focused on suspended solids, with optimally designed measurement campaigns using in-sewer sensors, and their particle distribution of settling velocities using the ViCAS measuring device.

She followed particles from the catchment, through combined sewer systems and overflows, and arriving at the wastewatertreatment plant where it was modelled as they moved through gritchambers and primary clarifiers, ending up into biofilters.
