Julia Ledergerber graduated in 2012 with a master of science in environmental engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich). She wrote her master thesis at the National University of Singapore (NUS), where she focused on experimental and modeling studies on ultrafiltration membrane fouling. Before starting her PhD in 2015, she worked as a project engineer for Basler & Hofmann AG, an independent Swiss engineering, planning and consultancy company.
Her PhD project uses an integrated modeling approach to optimize the management of the combined sewer network and the wastewater treatment plant. The aim is to develop and evaluate different management strategies in order to optimize the overall impact of pollution on the natural environment. The case study is located in Bordeaux, France.
